Her preference for colours and the mixing thereof often drive the artist to the use of soft pastel. She uses them to make picturesque drawings that perfectly display the atmosphere she wants to achieve.

Learn moreKristl Van Cauter (°1974) only started drawing and painting in 2016. In 2018 she obtained her degree in Visual Arts. Ever since she's been studying the Art of Drawing at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Aalst.
Driven by her passion for colour and depth, she tries to capture a specific atmosphere and unique perspective in her work. Therefore she mostly uses acryl and pastel.
In her search she's constantly experiencing the tension between technique and figurative design on the one hand and the desire to let go and follow her intuition on the other hand. Since it became clear in 2020 that she has a high functioning autistic brain, things fell more of less into place. She now better understands her fascinations and uncertainties, as all that comes naturally to others, demands reflection and rethinking to her. As a beginning artist she's gradually becoming more confident to show her work to a larger audience.
